Trailfinders Women were defeated 32-19 by Gloucester-Hartpury in PWR Round 6.
Tries from Grace White, Tyson Beukeboom and Liz Crake were not enough to secure any points heading into the bye week.
The result leaves Trailfinders with two wins from five this season, remaining in 6th position overnight.
The first half saw Trailfinders battle to stay in the game against the reigning PWR champions.
Gloucester-Hartpury had the vast majority of possession, but failed to make their hosts pay as much as they probably should have.
The cherry-and-whites played almost all of the half in Trailfinders territory, but repetitive handling errors and some brutal defensive work from the team in green stemmed the champions’ scoring flow.
Despite this, they went in at half time with the lead. Emma Sing scored first from an intercept, followed by Ellie Rugman’s brace to make the score 15-0 at the break.

Half Time: Trailfinders 0-15 Gloucester-Hartpury
The visitors continued to hold the ball and Alex Matthews scored Gloucester-Hartpury’s 4th just after the break.
Trailfinders would be forgiven for letting their heads drop, but the hosts displayed no dejection.
They continued to battle away, and a breakthrough finally came. White found the ball on the left wing and broke through a double tackle, stepping inside the full-back to score.
In the delirium, Gloucester-Hartpury remained calm and replied straight away through Beth Stafford.
Beukeboom then crashed over to spark a few nervous twitches from the Gloucester-Hartpury bench. Not least because Trailfinders would restart with a penalty as the visitors infringed during the act of Beukeboom scoring.
Crake capitalised, also via the pick and go, and the hope of bonus points for Trailfinders began to spur on the crowd.
From the restart, however, the hosts were penalised for holding on at the ruck, and Sing knocked over an easy penalty to close out the game.

Ealing Trailfinders fell to a narrow 38-33 loss against Harlequins in Round Two of the Premiership Rugby Cup.
Tries from Tobi Wilson, Matt Cornish, Jordan Holgate and a brace from Tom Collins meant Trailfinders left Twickenham with two bonus points.
The result leaves Ealing Trailfinders second in Pool C with four group games left to play in the competition.
It was a superb start at The Stoop when Wilson crossed the whitewash. Trailfinders regained the kick-off and the ball was moved out to the right. Wilson found himself in space beat his man and finished well. The conversion just wide.
Harlequins didn’t leave it long to respond, getting themselves on the scoresheet inside the opening ten. Tom Lawday crashed over from the pick-and-go and Jamie Benson converted to give Quins a two-point lead.
Quins dominated the rest of the first quarter. Sean Lonsdale was sent to the sin bin after Trailfinders conceded successive penalties defending their own line, and Quins eventually broke down the defence as, Cameron Anderson walked in on the left hand side.
Harlequins thought they were in again just minutes later, however crossing at the back of the maul allowed Dan Jones to relieve some pressure, and gave Trailfinders possession in the opposition half for the first time since the opening two minutes.
Quins captain Lawday burst through the defence to setup the third of the night for Harlequins.
Wilson made the tackle five metres out, but he passed the ball up to Benson who scored and then converted his own score.
With just five minutes to go before the half-time whistle, a teasing kick was put over the top from Craig Hampson was carried into touch by Benson, creating a perfect attacking platform. Front foot ball off the lineout allowed Dan Jones to throw a delayed pass to Tom Collins who burst through to score the visitors’ second of the night. Jones added the extras.
Ealing Trailfinders were not ready for the break just yet. A well executed line out and a powerful rolling maul allowed Cornish to score and Dan Jones close the deficit to just two points.
Half-time: Harlequins 21 – 19 Ealing Trailfinders
Harlequins came out of the blocks firing in the second 40, converting some early pressure into a Penalty Try and it was a second yellow card of the night, this time for Will Montgomery.
The fourteen men of Ealing Trailfinders looked poised to strike back a minute later. A strong rolling maul got them from the 22 to just five metres out but an agonising handling error let them down. \
Kyle Whyte was then sent to the bin for a high shot, reducing Trailfinders to 13.
After a valiant defensive effort the hosts found a way through the Trailfinders defence with a two man advantage, Bryn Bradley offloaded to George Hammond who scored Quins’ fifth.
Ealing Trailfinders struck next with their bonus point try and it was Collins who had his second.
Another rolling maul set up a good platform. After Jordan Holgate and Reuben Bird-Tulloch came close it was Jones who passed to Collins juggling it over the line and diving over.
With just ten minutes on the clock and nine points down, it was crucial that Trailfinders were next on the scoresheet. A huge shove at scrum won a penalty for the visitors and the penalty came agonisingly back off the post. Moments later Quins slotted a penalty of their own.
In the final play, Trailfinders went in search of a final try and they found it through Jordan Holgate. A trick play at the line out sent the centre over untouched to secure a second bonus point for the visitors.

Trailfinders Women beat Leicester Tigers 36-17 in a scrappy affair away at Welford Road in PWR Round 5.
A brace from Emma Taylor, along with tries from Chloe Rollie, Rosie Inman, Julia Schell and Caity Mattinson, secured Trailfinders a bounce-back win following their narrow loss to Exeter Chiefs last week.
The result leaves Trailfinders Women 6th in the PWR table, five points outside the playoff spots, with a game in hand on Harlequins in 4th.
Trailfinders started perfectly at Welford Road, which has been the theme so far this season, having scored within the first five minutes in all of their first four games.
The opener came from Rollie, who stepped past two Tigers defenders to streak away over the line.
Despite the early try, Tigers were undeterred and grabbed the momentum, working their way up the field, although unable to score as Trailfinders turned over Tigers lineout ball.
Inman then widened the gap as another wayward Leicester lineout was pounced on by Tyson Beukeboom, passing to the winger who then finished with aplomb.
Tigers then replied via Francesca McGhie, who broke down the left wing and reached her own kick behind to dot down.
The rest of the first half was characterised by inaccuracy. Both sides failed to keep the ball off the floor for large swathes of the final 15 minutes, and neither team could add to the scoreboard.
Half Time: Leicester Tigers 5-10 Trailfinders Women
Leicester came out of the changing rooms the better of the two teams. Julia Omokhuale crashed over from short range to give the hosts the lead following Claire Gallagher’s conversion.
Tigers stayed on top, and Trailfinders continued to be penalised at the breakdown and the scrum. Disaster followed as Cassandra Tuffnail, having just replaced Sara Seye, was yellow-carded for repetitive scrum penalties against the team.
Strangely, however, this was seemingly the spark the visitors needed to get back in the game.
Rollie intercepted a Tigers wide pass that looked for all money to be creating a try and flew away but was caught by McGhie running back to cover. Rollie then found Schell with a switchball, who walked under the sticks to give Trailfinders the lead back.
A wonder try followed from Trailfinders. Back to their Globetrotting best, they produced a sequence of beautiful offloads that allowed Mattinson to slide untouched over the whitewash.
The visitors looked determined to press on and continued to pin Leicester deep in their territory.
Taylor was next to add to the advantage, barrelling through the Tigers defence from short range.
McGhie then scored again to give Tigers fans some hope late on, but Taylor’s second from short range would end any hope of the hosts taking any points from the contest.
As a result, Trailfinders took all five points and look to be improving as they host the champions Gloucester-Hartpury at TFSC next week.

Ealing Trailfinders beat local rivals Saracens 29-19 kicking off their Premiership Cup campaign with a bang.
A brace from Reuben Bird-Tulloch along with scores from Rob Farrar, Angus Kernohan and a penalty try gave Trailfinders a famous victory over their Premiership counterparts.
The hosts took the maximum five points from the fixture, heading into next Friday’s clash against Harlequins at The Stoop.
The game started perfectly for Trailfinders. Farrar flew over the white wash in the left corner after Trailfinders pounced on turnover ball from kick-off.
The fast start continued as Tobi Wilson threw a wonder ball over the top to Bird-Tulloch out wide, allowing the centre to cross, making the score 12-0 inside the first five minutes.
Saracens then woke up from their apparent slumber and scoring slowed, as the visitors held most of the possession.
The hosts were throwing bodies around forcing handling errors from Saracens. Bird-Tulloch then scored again, this time beating three Sarries players and crossing over on the right wing.
It was disaster after disaster for the visitors. Phil Brantingham and Toby Knight were sent to the bin after consecutive maul penalties and Trailfinders were awarded a penalty try.
Saracens closed off the half with a try on the buzzer. Brandon Jackson broke through and raced away from Trailfinders in a rare defensive lapse.
Halftime: Ealing Trailfinders 24-5 Saracens
The second half started identically to the first. Kernohan flew over in the corner after Trailfinders strung some brutally efficient phases together.
Saracens then managed to drag themselves back into the contest. Holding onto the ball for the majority of the second term they were able to cross 11 minutes after the break through Harry Wilson.
Pressure off the ball from the hosts continued to repel their rivals attacking efforts. Trailfinders then came close as a beautiful, flowing attacking move meant they went coast to coast but Lefty Zigiriadis was held up over the line attempting to crash over.
Saracens then scored a consolation try as Jackson scored again going the length via the intercept.
As a result it finished 29-19 giving Ealing Trailfinders the perfect start to their cup run.

Ealing Trailfinders secure an outstanding 92-0 victory at home against Ampthill in their round five Championship fixture.
The hosts impressively scored 14 tries in total and denied the visitors a single point for the entire 80 in what can only be described as a clinical performance from the hosts.
There were individual tries from Francis Moore, Matt Cornish, Angus Kernohan, Rayn Smid, Will Montgomery, Mikey Willemse, and Jordy Reid, with Reuben Bird-Tulloch and Tobi Wilson scoring braces as well as a hat-trick from Tom Collins.
It was an unfortunate opening minute for the visitors, with winger Wilson Ijeh shown an early yellow for a deliberate knock-on.
Trailfinders immediately capitalised on the extra man advantage as Reuben Bird-Tulloch opened the scoring with a brace of tries within a matter of minutes of one other, both on beautiful counter-attacks.
Tom Collins made it three for the Trailfinders in his first score of the game, executing a perfectly weighted chip-and-chase, which he finished himself.
Tobi Wilson secured the bonus point before the 20-minute mark with his first try, gliding over the whitewash untouched.
Jordy Reid scored next for Trailfinders, diving over from the back of a powerful rolling maul, which became a running theme throughout the game.
Collins followed it scoring his second as he finished off a lovely counter-attack once again as Ampthill were struggling to deal with the attacking flair.
The hosts had one more on the cusp of the break, with Willemse over at the back of another driving maul.
Half-Time Score- Ealing Trailfinders 45-0 Ampthill
The second period opened with yet another flurry of tries, with Trailfinders scoring three within five minutes
Collins started it by making an acrobatic finish to take Trailfinders to 50 points, and Montgomery saw that and thought he could do one better with the number eight scoring an outrageous superman finish of his own in the corner.
Collins secured his hat trick after putting a perfect grubber through which he gathered and scored.
Play slowed down for a period, which allowed fans to catch their breath, but picked right back up when Rayn Smid went over at the back of yet another driving maul for the hosts.
Kernohan followed it with a finish from yet another graceful counter-attacking score.
There were two more tries for the Trailfinders before the full-time whistle.
Cornish got in on the action at the back of, you guessed it, a rolling maul and Francis Moore scored our last after a grubber and chase, which he collected himself, and that was the final whistle.
On the event of Craig Hampson’s 100th appearance for the club, the squad put in an outstanding performance as they make the charge towards the top of the league.

It was an outstanding performance from Barney Maddison’s players at Trailfinders Sports Club, which saw Trailfinders run in ten tries in a thriller against Loughborough Lightning.
Trailfinders’ ten tries came from braces from Ellie Boatman and Annabel Meta, as well as individuals scores from Abi Burton, Kendra Cousineau, Kat Evans, Vicky Laflin, Emma Uren, and Megan Barwick.
The game started at a rapid pace, which was maintained for the full 80 minutes, with a try from Abi Burton in the first five minutes, followed shortly after with one from Ellie Boatman, who glided over for the second and an early lead.
The visitors responded, getting their first after a strong rolling maul. The ball came out, and their centre crashed over.
It was clinical work for the hosts third, with the backline linking up well to bring Trailfinders into the danger zone, and Cousineau finished it off.
Once again, the visitors responded after a nice break by Francesca Goldthorp to bring them close to the line, but it was finished off by the Alicia Maude.
Meta got in on the try-scoring action for her first score after some patient build-up play paired with a scorcher of a try a few minutes later as the back-line once again worked in tandem, offloading inside and out until Boatman finished it off for her second.
Unfortunately for Trailfinders, Abi Burton would be shown red before the break, and Lightning scored again, striking with the player advantage.
Half-Time – Ealing Trailfinders Women 33-19 Loughborough Lightning
Evans opened for scoring for the second half in a close-range effort after being denied by being held up over the line a few moments before.
Loughborough struck for another score off a well-worked set play move from a lineout, but it took a TMO check for it to be given.
Meta would get her double after a barnstorming run, crashing through and over the line. The game became level after Lightning second-row Abby Duguid was shown red for a high tackle.
There was a bit of Vicky Laflin magic in a textbook score from the fullback for the next one, making a break down the wing seem easy and dotting the ball down over the line.
No matter how many the hosts scored, Loughborough kept fighting and scored another from close range.
However, the next try from Trailfinders was mesmeric, each team making breaks and winning turnovers until Uren was able to break free and find a gap in the defence and get her score.
The last try from Trailfinders took it to ten in the match and over 60 points as Barwick crashed over from close range.
It was a breathless game and a real advert for the calibre of rugby on show in the PWR. Trailfinders will look to carry the momentum into their next fixture in a couple of weeks’ time down at Sandy Park.

Ealing Trailfinders took all five points away from The Bay this weekend, beating Nottingham 36-21 away from home to go top of the Championship table overnight.
A brace from Tom Collins, along with tries from Craig Willis, Jordan Holgate, Will Montgomery and David Douglas Bridge, gave Trailfinders their third win in four games to start the season.
The result leaves them top of the table overnight, going into round five when they will host Ampthill at home.
Many would have forgiven the players at The Bay tonight for a cagey affair due to Nottingham’s damp and brisk conditions, yet neither side seemed to kneel to the atmospheric conditions.
The ball was flying around from minute one. The Archers were insistent on playing expansively and chipped and chased in behind within the first five minutes. They regathered and broke, and although Trailfinders recovered to force a knock-on, Notts had set the tone.
The visitors countered with a first attack of their own. Willis threw a dummy and sliced through the Nottingham line, beating the full-back to score Trailfinders’ opener.
The West Londoners then smelt blood and piled on the pressure. They entered The Archers’ 22 again, sucking in their defence with an organised set of pick and gos, and Craig Hampson found Holgate in space to dive over the whitewash.
Trailfinders kept the scoreboard ticking over soon after. Reuben Bird-Tulloch ran an exceptional line off a Simon Uzokwe carry, and the flanker fed him straight through a hole in the Nottingham Defence.
After a rapid phase, Trailfinders found the width down the left, and Collins went over for his first to cap off a brilliant team try.
The hosts finally replied with a score of their own, following sustained possession in the Trailfinders red zone. Charlie Myall went through untouched after linking up with his centre partner to get Nottingham back in it.
Will Montgomery sealed the try bonus with the first half’s final play. Holgate broke down the right wing and put Montgomery through to sprint over from 30m out.
Half-Time: 7-24
The second half was less frantic than the second, with both sides electing to kick more of the ball than during the first term.
The scoring trends continued, however, and Douglas Bridge crashed over from short range to get Trailfinders going in the second half.
Collins then scored his second soon after. An absolute ripper down the left. The winger sprinted down the line, hit a grubber behind his opposite number and latched onto the end of the kick to score an early try-of-the-year contender.
That would cap off the Trailfinders’ scoring for the evening, and Nottingham scored two tries in the last 10 minutes in a last-gasp attempt to earn a point.
They failed, however, and Trailfinders sealed an impressive bounce-back victory, leaving them on top of the Championship table.
