Ben Ward was the man that Ealing Trailfinders chose to replace Mike Cudmore as Director of Rugby, after he stepped down at the end of the 2013-14 season. At the time Ward was head coach and first choice fly-half in the Club’s debut Greene King IPA Championship season, a season in which he finished with 96 points. Ward is one of the longest serving Ealing Trailfinders players having joined the club from capital rivals London Irish in 2004. Over the years he was at the heart of the team’s reputation for running, attacking rugby, pulling the strings to give his outside backs the chance to go on the attack. He was brought up in Teddington, not far from English rugby’s HQ at Twickenham. As a student at St Mary’s College in Twickenham he was capped by the England Students team for whom he appeared against France and Combined Services scoring five points.
