Ealing Trailfinders were 55-26 victors over Caldy, taking them 12 points clear at the top of The Championship.

Braces from Ben Harris and Angus Kernohan, along with tries from Simon Uzokwe, Mike Willemse, Will Montgomery, Reuben Bird-Tulloch and Rayn Smid, gave Trailfinders the full five points from the contest.

This result means Trailfinders stretch their lead at the top of The Championship to 12 points over 2nd placed Coventry after their loss to Nottingham.

Kernohan gave Trailfinders the perfect start, latching onto the end of a Francis Moore offload to go over in the corner.

Uzokwe was next to get over the line, this time from a classic pick-and-go, powering over the line with ease.

Then it seemed as if Caldy’s wheels were coming off. Willemse shot off the back of the rolling maul and crashed through the tacklers from short range.

Lewis Barker was then sent to the bin as he slapped the ball down, preventing a Kernohan breakaway.

Almost instantly, the North Irishman wrapped up his break on the end of a flowing Trailfinders set play.

The men in green continued to pile on the pressure. Prop Lefty Zigiriadis hit an unlikely 50-22, and Montgomery followed it up with a brutal carry to score.

That would end a perfect half for Trailfinders, who hoped the second would be more of the same.

Half-Time: Ealing Trailfinders 31-0 Caldy

Following the half-time message, Trailfinders scored straight away as Reuben Bird-Tulloch danced around a couple of Caldy tacklers to get over the line.

Having come on for David Bridge at half-time, Smid saw Yellow for a high tackle, and Trailfinders were down to 14 for the following 10 minutes.

There was then a huge momentum shift in favour of the visitors, who had been out of the contest for 50 minutes.

Ollie Hearn opened Caldy’s account immediately after the Yellow, followed quickly by a score from Paul Robinson.

Trailfinders then received two more yellow cards to Montgomery and Matas Jurevicius, the latter resulting in a penalty try and bringing the team down to 12.

As Smid returned to the field, Trailfinders managed to find some composure and slowed the pace of the game.

They managed to hold onto the ball for large parts of the next 10 and kept it in Caldy’s 22 to keep the pressure off.

Smid then stretched the Trailfinders’ lead with a try of his own.

Harris then capped off the game with a double in the space of six minutes, bringing Trailfinders over the half-century.

The result moves Trailfinders 12 points clear, playing Chinnor away from home after the bye week.

Ealing Trailfinders secured an awe-inspiring victory with a 95-7 over Cambridge.

There were 15 tries in total from Trailfinders, including braces from Matt Cornish, Tobi Wilson, Ben Harris and Cam Terry, as well as singles from David Bridge, Lloyd Williams, Michael Dykes, Reuben Bird-Tulloch, Sean Lonsdale, Matas Jurevicius and debutant Siya Ningiza.

Trailfinders opened the scoring with less than a minute on the board. After Cambridge conceded a penalty of the kick-off, Trailfinders went to the rolling maul, and Cornish crashed over.

The second came just two minutes later from Bridge as he galloped down the wing for a 14-point lead with just four minutes on the clock.

The third for the hosts came from Williams as he ran a perfect support line off Wilson’s shoulder to go over for another try.

Cambridge had an opportunity to respond from a quick tap penalty and grubber in behind; however, the ball rolled dead, as was their chance for their first try.

Trailfinders were earning clear dominance in the scrum early on and used it to their advantage, with Jones kicking them deep downfield into attacking positions.

Things got even worse for Cambridge as fullback Eli Caven was shown yellow for a deliberate knock-on.

Trailfinders punished the mistake as Cornish got his second crashing over from short range and added another try mere minutes later on the other wing from Dykes.

As if that wasn’t punishment enough, the hosts launched straight from the kick-off return and played it out of their own half, throwing offloads until Bird-Tulloch dove in at the corner.

Wilson scored the next after a beautiful offload from Harris to put him in at the corner.

Lonsdale was the next to go over, chasing down a loose kick ahead from his lock partner.

Harris got the last try before the break, taking the hosts to over 50 points as they went into the sheds.

Half Time Score- Ealing Trailfinders  55-0 Cambridge

It took Trailfinders a few minutes to get going in the second period, but eventually, they went over from Jurevicius.

With that one on the board, the next one came within seconds, with Wilson racing in under the posts for his second.

Eventually, the visitors got a deserved try on the board from fullback Caven.

Trailfinders’ next score came from debutant Ningiza as he crashed over from close range, with Harris adding another in the corner yet again.

Terry two the board with five minutes left on the clock from the back of another rolling maul and added another shortly after to end the game.

Trailfinders women suffered a 22-41 defeat to league leaders Exeter Chiefs Women in their round 10 clash in the PWR.

Tries from Grace White, Annabel Meta, and a brace from Kat Evans weren’t enough as the Chiefs ran in a total of seven tries to come away with the victory.

Trailfinders came right out the blocks with attacking purpose and got a try on the board early doors through White in the corner.

Chiefs had scrum dominance early on and were using it to their advantage. They worked their way downfield from penalties, and eventually, the visitors crashed over from short range through prop Hope Rogers.

Trailfinders struck back in impressive fashion through the driving maul with Evans the beneficiary at the tail, but the Chiefs came straight back with one of their own at the maul, levelling the score once again via Rogers’ second.

The prop got a hat-trick as poor discipline killed Trailfinders, allowing the visitors entry into the danger zone, and Rogers went over for her third.

Exeter got their fourth through winger Sabrina Poulin just before the break as she ran in at the corner, pouncing on turnover ball.

Half Time Score- Trailfinders Women 10-22 Exeter Chiefs Women

There was an early yellow card in the second half for Exeter Chiefs as number eight Rachel Johnson was sent to the bin for a high tackle.

Trailfinders immediately capitalised on the player advantage with Kat Evans going over at the back of a rolling maul.

However, the league leaders built through the phases nicely and got a response from Dorothy Wall, diving over to extend their lead beyond a converted try.

They kept their clinical edge and went over for another rolling maul try, with Emily Tuttosi going over at the back.

Trailfinders were on the back foot, and Chiefs started to show why they are top of the table, scoring their seventh of the afternoon courtesy of winger Katie Buchanan after a free-flowing attacking set from the visitors.

Trailfinders had one more try right at the death as Annabel Meta made it just over the line to secure the losing bonus point.

That’s the final game in 2024 for Trailfinders Women as they return for the Takeoff 2 against Harlequins Women at Trailfinders Sports Park in the new year.

Trailfinders secured a bonus point 31-5 win over Sale Sharks Women at Trailfinders Sports Club in testing conditions.

Not even Storm Darragh could stop a flurry of tries from Trailfinders with Emma Taylor and Abby Dow getting over the line, as well as a hat-trick on her return from Abi Burton.

The conditions were horrific and had an undeniable impact on the style of play but it was Trailfinders who came out of the blocks the strongest with Burton’s first try.

She crashed over from close range before the ten-minute mark to get the hosts off to the perfect start.

Play became scrappy for the middle 20 minutes of the opening half as both sides fought the conditions.

It was Trailfinders who dominated possession but were struggling to execute in the final third; the best opportunity came from a teasing box-kick from Caity Mattinson to put Sharks under pressure on their own line.

Eventually, it was Burton who crashed over once again for the second try of the game at close range following a quick tap penalty close to the line.

The visitors hit back quickly, however, gaining entry into the 22 from a lineout and then went back down the short side for an easy run in for their winger Eva Wood.

It was Trailfinders who would have the final say before the halftime whistle, once again crashing over from close range and converting her own try to take a commanding lead heading into the break.

Half Time: Trailfinders Women 21-5 Sale Sharks Women

Once again, Trailfinders started the half quickly, and it was the lethal finisher, Dow who was the beneficiary, linking up from an offload following a brilliant break from Chloe Rollie and securing the bonus point.

As the sky darkened, the conditions somehow got worse, the wind and rain picked up and the temperature dropped even more

However, Burton remained on red-hot form, scoring her third to complete the hat-trick on the 60-minute mark, breaking over the try line yet again with tremendous power.

Sale remained in the fight for the full game; however didn’t manage to score any more points, and it was Trailfinders Women who came out on top at the full-time whistle.

It’s a vital win providing much-needed momentum as Trailfinders Women welcome league leaders Exeter Chiefs to Trailfinders Sports Club next Saturday for our Christmas Double Header.

Ealing Trailfinders secured another bonus point win in round six of the Championship after a return from the Prem Rugby Cup with a 63-28 win over London Scottish.

Tries from Jordy Reid, Bobby De Wee, Angus Kernohan, Ben Harris, a brace from Francis Moore, and a second-half hat trick from Henry Walker helped Trailfinders to victory.

Moore went over early doors for the first try of the game for Trailfinders, thanks to a beautifully worked backs move finished off well by the centre.

Scottish responded quickly, building pressure in the red zone until the loosehead prop Tom Osborne crashed over to level the score.

Building on the momentum, Scottish had another within minutes after a chicken wing offload to Stephen Kerins on a trailing support line, and the scrum-half went under the posts.

Trailfinders proved their clinical nature for their second try, executing a training ground lineout move, and Reid was the beneficiary at the tail.

The hosts had their foot on the gas and weren’t letting up. Another lineout drive and some phases later allowed De Wee to crash over and score their third.

They secure the bonus point through a walk-in by Kernohan, thanks to a wide pass out by Willis.

It was another winger over the line next as Harris raced down the wing and went over the line for a fifth try for Trailfinders.

Things got worse for Scottish as Will Trenholm was sent to the bin for a side entry at the maul.

Trailfinders immediately capitalised through Moore who scored his second.

Half Time: Ealing Trailfinders 42-14 London Scottish

The visitors came out for the second period and attempted to slow the tempo of the game down, controlling things much better than in the first 40.

Play became much tighter, with both sides fighting for every scrap of possession, with play remaining solidly in the middle third.

Eventually, Trailfinders would get their first score of the second half as Walker burrowed through at the back of a driving maul and scored.

Scottish replied immediately through a trick play at the lineout, throwing low, and the replacement scrum-half Dan Nutton collected and scored.

Trailfinders extended their lead yet again through two tries in quick succession through the weapon of the rolling maul, punishing the visitor’s ill-discipline, and Walker was the beneficiary completing his hat-trick.

London Scottish had constant pressure right at the death, and eventually, Matt Wilkinson crashed over for another try to end the game.

Ealing Trailfinders come out on top in their Premiership Cup Round Three match against London Scottish with a 36-5 victory at Trailfinders Sports Club.

Tries from Matt Cornish, Ben Harris, Bobby De Wee, Rayn Smid and a brace from Jordan Holgate secured all five points for the home side.

Trailfinders sit at the top of Pool C after the conclusion of this weekend’s Premiership Cup action.

Ben Ward’s men struck first in the worst conditions Trailfinders Sports Club had seen this season. A line out move straight from the training ground was executed perfectly in the opening ten minutes. Smid rose at the back of line out and he popped it off the top to Holgate who crashed over.

The visitors hit back shortly after. Zach Carr broke from the back of a driving maul to go over on the right-hand side. Following this score, there was a long period of both teams trying to get a foothold in the match.

Ealing Trailfinders found some field position and set up camp in the London Scottish 22 with ten minutes to play in the first-half. Constant pressure meant Scottish conceded multiple penalties. This saw their co-captain Jack Ingall sent to the sin bin. The hosts used their man advantage and drove their way over the line. Cornish came up with the ball which gave his side a seven-point lead at the half-way stage.

Half-time: Ealing Trailfinders 12-5 London Scottish

Ealing Trailfinders came out of the blocks firing in the second forty. Some early pressure on the Scottish try line allowed inside centre Holgate to score his second of the afternoon.

Trailfinders seemed to have found their rhythm in the second half. The ball was moved out wide to debutant Harris who had a man to beat and he managed to. The bonus-point was secured for the hosts.

Next, it was the turn of replacement De Wee to get himself on the scoresheet. The second-row muscled his way after multiple pick and go phases to bag himself a five-pointer on his return to the side.

As we entered the final ten minutes, a fresh front-row of James Kenny, Henry Walker and Kabous Bezuidenhout fancied their chances against a tired London Scottish pack. A dominate display saw them push their way over the try line from 5m out, that allowed Smid to fall on the ball and score Trailfinders’ sixth and final try of the afternoon.

Trailfinders Women were defeated 32-19 by Gloucester-Hartpury in PWR Round 6.

Tries from Grace White, Tyson Beukeboom and Liz Crake were not enough to secure any points heading into the bye week.

The result leaves Trailfinders with two wins from five this season, remaining in 6th position overnight.

The first half saw Trailfinders battle to stay in the game against the reigning PWR champions.

Gloucester-Hartpury had the vast majority of possession, but failed to make their hosts pay as much as they probably should have.

The cherry-and-whites played almost all of the half in Trailfinders territory, but repetitive handling errors and some brutal defensive work from the team in green stemmed the champions’ scoring flow.

Despite this, they went in at half time with the lead. Emma Sing scored first from an intercept, followed by Ellie Rugman’s brace to make the score 15-0 at the break.

Half Time: Trailfinders 0-15 Gloucester-Hartpury

The visitors continued to hold the ball and Alex Matthews scored Gloucester-Hartpury’s 4th just after the break.

Trailfinders would be forgiven for letting their heads drop, but the hosts displayed no dejection.

They continued to battle away, and a breakthrough finally came. White found the ball on the left wing and broke through a double tackle, stepping inside the full-back to score.

In the delirium, Gloucester-Hartpury remained calm and replied straight away through Beth Stafford.

Beukeboom then crashed over to spark a few nervous twitches from the Gloucester-Hartpury bench. Not least because Trailfinders would restart with a penalty as the visitors infringed during the act of Beukeboom scoring.

Crake capitalised, also via the pick and go, and the hope of bonus points for Trailfinders began to spur on the crowd.

From the restart, however, the hosts were penalised for holding on at the ruck, and Sing knocked over an easy penalty to close out the game.

Ealing Trailfinders beat local rivals Saracens 29-19 kicking off their Premiership Cup campaign with a bang.

A brace from Reuben Bird-Tulloch along with scores from Rob Farrar, Angus Kernohan and a penalty try gave Trailfinders a famous victory over their Premiership counterparts.

The hosts took the maximum five points from the fixture, heading into next Friday’s clash against Harlequins at The Stoop.

The game started perfectly for Trailfinders. Farrar flew over the white wash in the left corner after Trailfinders pounced on turnover ball from kick-off.

The fast start continued as Tobi Wilson threw a wonder ball over the top to Bird-Tulloch out wide, allowing the centre to cross, making the score 12-0 inside the first five minutes.

Saracens then woke up from their apparent slumber and scoring slowed, as the visitors held most of the possession.

The hosts were throwing bodies around forcing handling errors from Saracens. Bird-Tulloch then scored again, this time beating three Sarries players and crossing over on the right wing.

It was disaster after disaster for the visitors. Phil Brantingham and Toby Knight were sent to the bin after consecutive maul penalties and Trailfinders were awarded a penalty try.

Saracens closed off the half with a try on the buzzer. Brandon Jackson broke through and raced away from Trailfinders in a rare defensive lapse.

Halftime: Ealing Trailfinders 24-5 Saracens

The second half started identically to the first. Kernohan flew over in the corner after Trailfinders strung some brutally efficient phases together.

Saracens then managed to drag themselves back into the contest. Holding onto the ball for the majority of the second term they were able to cross 11 minutes after the break through Harry Wilson.

Pressure off the ball from the hosts continued to repel their rivals attacking efforts. Trailfinders then came close as a beautiful, flowing attacking move meant they went coast to coast but Lefty Zigiriadis was held up over the line attempting to crash over.

Saracens then scored a consolation try as Jackson scored again going the length via the intercept.

As a result it finished 29-19 giving Ealing Trailfinders the perfect start to their cup run.

Ealing Trailfinders secure an outstanding 92-0 victory at home against Ampthill in their round five Championship fixture.

The hosts impressively scored 14 tries in total and denied the visitors a single point for the entire 80 in what can only be described as a clinical performance from the hosts.

There were individual tries from Francis Moore, Matt Cornish, Angus Kernohan, Rayn Smid, Will Montgomery, Mikey Willemse, and Jordy Reid, with Reuben Bird-Tulloch and Tobi Wilson scoring braces as well as a hat-trick from Tom Collins.

It was an unfortunate opening minute for the visitors, with winger Wilson Ijeh shown an early yellow for a deliberate knock-on.

Trailfinders immediately capitalised on the extra man advantage as Reuben Bird-Tulloch opened the scoring with a brace of tries within a matter of minutes of one other, both on beautiful counter-attacks.

Tom Collins made it three for the Trailfinders in his first score of the game, executing a perfectly weighted chip-and-chase, which he finished himself.

Tobi Wilson secured the bonus point before the 20-minute mark with his first try, gliding over the whitewash untouched.

Jordy Reid scored next for Trailfinders, diving over from the back of a powerful rolling maul, which became a running theme throughout the game.

Collins followed it scoring his second as he finished off a lovely counter-attack once again as Ampthill were struggling to deal with the attacking flair.

The hosts had one more on the cusp of the break, with Willemse over at the back of another driving maul.

Half-Time Score- Ealing Trailfinders 45-0 Ampthill

The second period opened with yet another flurry of tries, with Trailfinders scoring three within five minutes

Collins started it by making an acrobatic finish to take Trailfinders to 50 points, and Montgomery saw that and thought he could do one better with the number eight scoring an outrageous superman finish of his own in the corner.

Collins secured his hat trick after putting a perfect grubber through which he gathered and scored.

Play slowed down for a period, which allowed fans to catch their breath, but picked right back up when Rayn Smid went over at the back of yet another driving maul for the hosts.

Kernohan followed it with a finish from yet another graceful counter-attacking score.

There were two more tries for the Trailfinders before the full-time whistle.

Cornish got in on the action at the back of, you guessed it, a rolling maul and Francis Moore scored our last after a grubber and chase, which he collected himself, and that was the final whistle.

On the event of Craig Hampson’s 100th appearance for the club, the squad put in an outstanding performance as they make the charge towards the top of the league.

It was an outstanding performance from Barney Maddison’s players at Trailfinders Sports Club, which saw Trailfinders run in ten tries in a thriller against Loughborough Lightning.

Trailfinders’ ten tries came from braces from Ellie Boatman and Annabel Meta, as well as individuals scores from Abi Burton, Kendra Cousineau, Kat Evans, Vicky Laflin, Emma Uren, and Megan Barwick.

The game started at a rapid pace, which was maintained for the full 80 minutes, with a try from Abi Burton in the first five minutes, followed shortly after with one from Ellie Boatman, who glided over for the second and an early lead.

The visitors responded, getting their first after a strong rolling maul. The ball came out, and their centre crashed over.

It was clinical work for the hosts third, with the backline linking up well to bring Trailfinders into the danger zone, and Cousineau finished it off.

Once again, the visitors responded after a nice break by Francesca Goldthorp to bring them close to the line, but it was finished off by the Alicia Maude.

Meta got in on the try-scoring action for her first score after some patient build-up play paired with a scorcher of a try a few minutes later as the back-line once again worked in tandem, offloading inside and out until Boatman finished it off for her second.

Unfortunately for Trailfinders, Abi Burton would be shown red before the break, and Lightning scored again, striking with the player advantage.

Half-Time – Ealing Trailfinders Women 33-19 Loughborough Lightning

Evans opened for scoring for the second half in a close-range effort after being denied by being held up over the line a few moments before.

Loughborough struck for another score off a well-worked set play move from a lineout, but it took a TMO check for it to be given.

Meta would get her double after a barnstorming run, crashing through and over the line. The game became level after Lightning second-row Abby Duguid was shown red for a high tackle.

There was a bit of Vicky Laflin magic in a textbook score from the fullback for the next one, making a break down the wing seem easy and dotting the ball down over the line.

No matter how many the hosts scored, Loughborough kept fighting and scored another from close range.

However, the next try from Trailfinders was mesmeric, each team making breaks and winning turnovers until Uren was able to break free and find a gap in the defence and get her score.

The last try from Trailfinders took it to ten in the match and over 60 points as Barwick crashed over from close range.

It was a breathless game and a real advert for the calibre of rugby on show in the PWR. Trailfinders will look to carry the momentum into their next fixture in a couple of weeks’ time down at Sandy Park.
