A difficult afternoon at Shaftesbury Park for Trailfinders Women saw them fall to a 26-7 loss to Bristol Bears.

A try from Tyson Beukeboom in the first half wasn’t enough for Trailfinders as Bristol Bears came away with the win.

Both sides struggled with the horrific conditions throughout; the wind blew straight across the pitch as the rain lashed down.

It was the hosts who struck first through Scotland international centre Emma Oor. After a strong handoff she broke through the line, and was able to go in under the posts.

There was a great defensive set from Trailfinders as they were able to deny the fearsome Bristol pack another try, holding them up over the line despite the consistent pressure from the Bears.

Beukeboom’s try started from a brilliant decision to go for the quick tap and then cross-field kick to Abby Dow, she kicked the ball ahead and put the pressure on Bristol,

Trailfinders were consistent and eventually converted as the towering lock crashed over for the score which was converted by fellow Canadian Emma Taylor.

Bristol would have another just on the cusp of the break. A clean break brought them close before number eight Row Marston-Mulhearn dotted down.

Half-Time – Bristol Bears 12-7 Trailfinders Women

The hosts came out of the blocks firing in the second 40 with an early try. Despite holding up the initial attempt by Bristol, they ran the ball straight back from the goal-line drop out and Sarah Bern was able to score.

With the weather taking a turn for the worst in the second half, play became even scrappier, possession moving back and forth between the sides due to simple mistakes.

Bristol were able to make the most of the conditions and turned the screw extending their lead through a strong run by Amber Reed.

Trailfinders were much-improved during in the closing stages; however, they couldn’t convert it into any more points, and Bristol came away with the win.

Trailfinders Women fell to a 41-17 defeat against Bristol Bears at Shaftesbury Park.

A single try from Rosie Inman combined with 12 points off the boot from Ellie Green meant the away side actually led just after half time, only for Bears to run away with it in the last 30 minutes.

This result leaves Trailfinders Women with one win from their first four games in the Allianz PWR.

The first half began in disaster for the away side, as a kick straight to touch followed by a penalty against them gave Bristol Bears a prime opportunity in the Trailfinders red zone.

Bears would go on to convert through Lana Skeldon at the back of a rolling maul, giving the home side the perfect start three minutes into the game.

Two Green penalties from close range would make the scores 7-6, keeping Trailfinders in it, only for Skeldon’s second of the game to widen the Bears’ lead to 12-6.

Trailfinders were not deterred, though, and a brilliant set play in the Bristol 22 allowed Inman to crash over in the corner.

Just before halftime, Green hit the post from 35m out, leaving the score 12-11 at the break.

Coming out of the interval, another two Green penalty kicks gave Trailfinders a 12-17 lead.

This is where the away side’s scoring stopped, and the Bears would run away with it, scoring five unanswered tries.

This result leaves Trailfinders Women on six points, returning home to TFSC, where they host Sale Sharks Women on Friday night.
