Julia Schell

Julia Schell began playing rugby at the age of 14 at Uxbridge Secondary School in Canada, while also representing her local club, Oshawa Vikings. Julia quickly progressed through the Canadian pathway, earning her first international experience at just 18 when she represented Canada Sevens at the Youth Commonwealth Games.

She went on to spend five years at the University of Guelph, continuing to develop her game while representing Canada U20s during two summers. Julia also featured on several national development Sevens tours and represented Canada at two FISU tournaments. During her university years, she also spent her summers playing for the Guelph Redcoats.

Julia earned her first senior Canada cap in November 2021 against the USA in Glendale, Colorado. She then moved to Victoria, British Columbia, where she spent two seasons with Castaway Wanderers.

Her international career continued to progress, with Julia making three appearances for Canada at the 2022 Rugby World Cup. In August 2023, she made the move across the Atlantic to join Trailfinders.

Julia featured in all six of Canada’s matches at the 2025 Rugby World Cup, helping the team reach the final and finish as runners-up. She now brings extensive international and World Cup experience to Trailfinders Women.

Away from rugby, Julia enjoys reading, staying active and exploring new restaurants and coffee shops. She also enjoys shopping, social media and getting creative.
