Emma Wassell
Emma Wassell began playing rugby at the age of 15 after previously pursuing gymnastics. She quickly progressed through the Scottish pathway, representing Scotland U18s, Scotland U19s Sevens and Scotland U20s before making her senior international debut in the 2014 Women’s Six Nations.
Emma went on to become one of Scotland’s most experienced players. She became the first player in Scottish rugby history to win 50 consecutive caps and has now earned 78 Scotland caps. She represented Scotland at the 2021 Rugby World Cup, played in 2022, and helped the side qualify for the tournament.
In 2023, Emma was part of the Scotland team that won WXV2 – Scotland’s first major international title in more than 20 years. She subsequently returned from major surgery to represent Scotland at the 2025 Rugby World Cup, where Scotland reached the quarter-finals.
At club level, Emma played for Corstorphine Cougars before joining Loughborough Lightning in 2021. She moved to Trailfinders Women ahead of the 2025/26 season and helped the club reach its first-ever PWR final in 2026.
