Cristina Blanco

Cristina Blanco took an unconventional route into international rugby, first discovering the sport at university at the age of 20. At the time, she was playing semi-professional basketball, but after reaching a point where she was no longer enjoying the game, she decided to focus her attention on rugby.

She joined Olimpico de Pozuelo in Spain, and her first season with the club ended with a league title. Her performances quickly caught the attention of the Spanish national setup, and the following year she was called up to represent Spain.

Cristina made her international debut against South Africa in 2019, beginning a senior international career that would take her to the highest level of the game. Her progression culminated in representing Spain at the 2025 Rugby World Cup.

From discovering rugby at university to becoming a Rugby World Cup player in just a few years, Cristina’s journey is a testament to her adaptability, athleticism and determination.

Away from rugby, Cristina is a big fan of good coffee, enjoys learning about all things physiotherapy, and loves spending time with friends and going on holiday. One thing you won’t find on her itinerary, however, is camping.
