Cassandra Tuffnail

Cass Tuffnail began playing rugby in high school in Canada, spending four years developing her game before joining Fergus Highland Rugby Club, where she progressed from U18 rugby into the senior women’s side.

She went on to spend five years playing for the University of Guelph, while also representing Rugby Ontario at both U20 and senior women’s level. Her performances eventually opened the door to the Canadian national setup, with Cass invited into a national team camp in Spain in 2023.

Cass made her international debut for Canada against South Africa in March 2023 and has remained part of the national team setup since, navigating periods in and out of the squad due to injuries. She earned her second Canada cap against New Zealand in 2026.

Alongside her international career, Cass moved to the UK to pursue a Master’s in Physiotherapy. She played two seasons with Brunel University before spells with Ruislip RFC and Richmond RFC, eventually meeting Giselle and being invited to join Trailfinders Women for the club’s inaugural season.

Having experienced rugby in Canada, university rugby in both countries, the English club game and international rugby, Cass brings a unique perspective and wealth of experience to Trailfinders Women.

Away from rugby, Cass enjoys spending time with dogs, reading and getting outdoors whenever she can.
