NEW CONTRACT FOR LISA THOMSON
We are thrilled to announce the re-signing of Scottish international Lisa Thomson, ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Last season marked her first full season in 15s after a successful career with GB7s, and she has proven a key player in the squad, excelling at both fly-half and centre.
Thomson brings a wealth of international experience, having represented Scotland at the 2021 Rugby World Cup, and serving as co-captain for the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Gold at the European Games in Kraków in 2023 was followed by a place in the British squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics. More recently, Thomson proved a key part of Scotland’s 2025 Six Nations squad with consistent performances throughout and a try scored against the Red Roses.
In addition to her impressive international resumé, her performances in 2024-25 for Trailfinders were outstanding, scoring five tries – including two vital tries in a thrilling 39-38 win over Bristol Bears in January.
Her leadership, skill, and versatility earned her a deserved Coaches’ Player of the Season award at the 24-25 End of Season Awards.
Speaking on her re-signing, Thomson said:
“I’m thrilled to be staying with Trailfinders Women. This team has been a fantastic place for me to develop, and I’m excited to continue contributing to our success on the field.”
Barney Maddison, Head Coach, added:
“Lisa’s leadership, experience, and ability to perform in critical moments have been invaluable this season. We’re excited to have her back and look forward to seeing her continue to grow as a player and leader next season.”
