Josh Taylor set to depart Ealing Trailfinders
Ealing Trailfinders can announce that back rower and Trailfinders Academy product Josh Taylor is set to depart Ealing Trailfinders at the end of the 2025/26 season.
After coming through the Trailfinders Academy pathway system partnered with Brunel University, Taylor made his senior men’s debut in September 2023 in the Premiership Cup against Cambridge.
Since, he has been a regular starter in Ealing Trailfinders’ match day squads and has been a core part of the Club’s leadership group this season, frequently captaining the side.
Taylor has also represented Scotland at Under 20s level and was part of the Emerging Scotland squad that faced Tonga XV in November 2025 alongside club teammate Geordie Gwynn.
The back rower will join Northampton Saints ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Speaking about his time in the Trailfinders set up, Taylor said:
‘I’ve massively enjoyed my time here at Ealing Trailfinders want to thank all the coaches and players for an unbelievable season and my development over the years from Brunel to the senior team.
‘We still have a lot to do until the end of the season and I’m looking forward to what this group can achieve in the meantime.
‘I look forward to seeing how the team progresses and I wish all the staff, coaches, and players all the very best for the future.’
Ben Ward, Director of Rugby, added:
‘Josh joined us at 18-years-old and is an example of the success of the Trailfinders pathway that we will continue to endorse at the Club.
‘He has been a fantastic player for Trailfinders and we are sad to see him depart, though we are excited for him to have a chance at playing in the Prem.
‘Josh’s leadership abilities have been pivotal in our season so far and he will continue to play a key role in our campaign towards the play-offs.
‘I’d like to thank the Trailfinders Academy coaches who have played a pivotal part in his development to bring him through to Ealing Trailfinders.’
Everyone at the Club thanks Josh for his hard work and wishes him the best in his career.
