Director of Rugby Ben Ward said: “We’re thrilled for JT to have this opportunity to coach at international level and represent his home nation again. We thank him for his efforts over the last few months and we’re looking forward to watching his progress.”

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION:

Hartpury are always a tough team to face, and they are a side that we know well this season, having already faced them twice – once in the league and once in the cup!

The university are known for their incredible production line of talent that goes on to play at the highest level. Among their alumni are British & Irish Lions Louis Rees-Zammit, Jonny Hill and Ross Moriarty; England Internationals Jonny May, Ellis Genge and Dan Robson; and Italian International Sebastian Negri.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Hartpury are the form team within the league, having not lost in the Championship since the end of October!

They are currently on a five-game winning streak, having recorded victories over Ampthill and London Scottish on the road and impressively beating Cornish Pirates, Coventry and Doncaster Knights.

They are dangerous side who are as strong in the forward pack as they are in the backline and, given their strong links to Bristol Bears and Gloucester Rugby, are always tricky opponents.

Ealing Trailfinders are delighted to announce that Neil Fowkes has joined the club as Forwards Coach.

Neil has a huge amount of playing and coaching experience, most recently having been the Scrum Coach at Wasps since July 2020, helping take them to the Premiership final later that year which they narrowly lost to Exeter Chiefs.

Before that, Neil had spent over 20 years at fellow Championship side Nottingham Rugby, first as a player and then as a coach.

As a player he made over 220 appearances for the Midlands side and was part of the squad that achieved promotion to the Championship, during the 2003/04 season.

Then on retirement he moved straight into a coaching role with the ‘Archers’, working alongside both Glenn Delaney and Martin Haag as Forwards Coach.

Neil was also instrumental in the establishment of the Nottingham Trent University (NTU) Rugby programme which was originally delivered by the club and has seen more than 50 players represent the ‘Green and Whites’.

In July 2018 he was promoted to Head Coach and memorably guided Nottingham to the Championship Cup semi-final during the 2019-20 season, which was ultimately cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

On joining the club, Neil said: “I’m really pleased to be joining Ealing Trailfinders, a club with huge ambitions and a clear vision of how they want to get there.

“The Championship is a league I know well, both as a player and as a coach, and so I’m looking forward to testing myself there again. I’ve already been coaching at the club for a few weeks and I’m really enjoying getting to know the boys both on and off the field.”

Director of Rugby Ben Ward said: “I’m really pleased to have recruited someone of Neil’s quality so quickly after losing JT. He has already settled into our environment very well and with his detailed knowledge of the Championship and the Premiership he will be invaluable for us as a club going forward.”

Ealing Trailfinders have named another powerful squad for Saturday’s rearranged fixture against Caldy.

The match, which was originally scheduled for Saturday 17th December, will be Ealing Trailfinders’ first ever trip to Paton Field and the first ever Championship meeting between the two sides.

Fresh from the Christmas break and an impressive 43-22 win over Jersey Reds, Ben Ward has opted for a reshuffled front-row, with props James Gibbons and Ross Kane selected alongside hooker Jan Henning-Campher who makes his return.

In the second-row, David O’Connor partners Danny Cutmore while Rob Farrar, Simon Uzokwe and match day captain Rayn Smid make up an exciting back-row.

In the halves, Craig Hampson partners Craig Willis, with Pat Howard and Reuben Bird-Tulloch forming a formidable combination in the midfield. In the back-three, Jonah Holmes continues at fullback, with Cian Kelleher and Luke Daniels on the left and right wings respectively.

Among the replacements, George Davis earns a recall to the match day squad, while former Northampton Saints flanker Ollie Newman is due to make his full Ealing Trailfinders debut.

Ealing Trailfinders are excited to confirm the signing of winger Nathan Earle who has joined the club with immediate effect.

The Hong Kong born speedster arrives in West London following two seasons with Newcastle Falcons, where he scored 5 tries in 17 appearances. Prior to his move to Newcastle, the 28-year-old won Premiership titles with Saracens and Harlequins, scoring for Sarries in their 27-10 win over Exeter Chiefs in 2017, and was part of the Quins squad which went on to win the 2021 final.

Crossing for 23 tries in 53 Premiership appearances prior to joining Newcastle, the lethal winger scored on his England debut in a non-cap fixture against the Barbarians in 2017, before achieving a call-up to England’s tour of Argentina later that year. An England U18 and U20 representative, Nathan also won New Zealand’s NPC, scoring for Canterbury in their 2016 final victory over Tasman.

Upon joining Ealing Trailfinders, Nathan said: “I’m hugely excited about the challenge ahead and looking forward to contributing to this group and working together to achieve our objectives this season.

“It’s a club with a massive amount of ambition and as a player there is nothing more motivating than being in an environment that wants to win every game and are determined to progress to the very top of English rugby.”

Ben Ward, Ealing Trailfinders Director of Rugby, commented: “We’re delighted to have Nathan joining the club as we progress into the second half of the season. He’s a quality individual with enormous talent and experience and we’re confident he will make an immediate impact at our club.”

Ealing Trailfinders can confirm that winger Jack Metcalf has left the club with immediate effect.

The 21-year-old, who scored six tries in nine appearances for Ealing Trailfinders since joining the club in preseason, has departed the club to join fellow Championship outfit Doncaster Knights.

Ealing Trailfinders would like to thank Jack for his contribution to the club and wish him the best of luck with his move to Doncaster.

Powerful flanker Carlo Tizzano has been voted the Ealing Trailfinders Player of the Month for December.

The Australian enforcer delivered another outstanding month for Ealing Trailfinders, featuring in all three fixtures against Jersey Reds, Bedford Blues and Cornish Pirates.

The 22-year-old maintained his excellent try scoring form, scoring two tries against Bedford and crossing in the crucial moments in the 12-25 win over Pirates. His three tries in December catapulted Carlo to the top of the Championship’s try-scoring list with 11 tries so far this season.

This is the second time Carlo has been voted Player of the Month having won the award back in September.

Congratulations Carlo!
