Ealing Trailfinders can confirm six more players who will all leave the club this summer.

Adam Korczyk – Ealing Trailfinder #155

Adam Korczyk first joined the club back in 2019 from Super Rugby side Queensland Reds.

The flanker, who is known for for his bone crunching tackles and great work at the breakdown, has made twelve appearances in green and white.

Adam has been incredibly unlucky with injuries over the last couple of seasons, but has reminded diligent and committed in his rehab, and in March fought back from almost a year out to make his return against Richmond. He has been a key part of the final rounds of our campaign this season and has always been a positive influence on the squad since he joined the club and we wish him all the best as he returns to Australia.

Shaun Malton – Ealing Trailfinder #164

After moving to West-London from Bristol Bears in 2020, Shaun Malton has proved himself to be one of the most exciting and versatile hookers in the league.

The 33-year-old is comfortable in the set-piece, as well as being incredibly strong in loose and is able to distribute effectively and put in running lines similar to a back.

His try scoring efforts will be missed from TFSC next season, as he has amassed 19 tries in his 49 appearances for the club.

Max Northcote-Green – Ealing Trailfinder #176

Max Northcote-Green moved to Trailfinders Sports Club in 2021, having joined after a short spell at Exeter Chiefs.

The back-row, who is incredibly effective over the ball and in the loose, has struggled with injury since joining the club, but has always been a hugely positive influence on the squad and is willing to help others and pas on his knowledge.

He did start the final block of matches during last year’s double winning season, wearing the blindside shirt as we clinched the league title against Richmond.

Jack Digby – Ealing Trailfinder #182

Jack Digby came to the Trailfinders in 2021, joining from Australian side Eastern Suburbs.

The back-row, who can play on the blindside or at number 8, has scored five tries in his two years here, as well as providing countless assists for his teammates.

In particular, he has played a crucial role in the second half of this season making the number 8 shirt his own after Rayn Smid’s injury, or providing a huge impetus from the bench.

Jack Grant – Ealing Trailfinder #202

Jack Grant has made a real impact in his short time at the club, after joining from the NSW Waratahs at the start of this season.

In his four appearances, Grant has scored three tries, including a superb brace against Hartpury, one of which was a solo run which started inside his own 22!

Peter Robb – Ealing Trailfinder #204

The powerful runner joined the club this season from URC side Connacht.

In a season that was disrupted by injury, the centre made three appearances for Trailfinders, including a strong performance away in Jersey, as we fell to the hosts by just a point in the Championship Cup.

When speaking about all the departures, Director of Rugby Ben Ward said: “Every season is full of ups and downs, and one of these down moments is when we have to say goodbye to those who are moving on at the end of the season.

“Both Adam and Noggers have been incredibly unfortunate with injuries throughout their time here, but their hard work to make it back to full fitness has been commendable, and whenever they’ve been on the pitch they’ve always given their all. My only regret is that we didn’t see them more times in green and white.

“Malts has been superb throughout the last three years, both in the set-piece and in the loose and has always popped up with important moments when we’ve needed them. Diggers has really grown throughout his time here, being a really effective ball carrier and a crucial part of the last couple of months.

“Although Jack and Peter’s spells in West-London have been short, their impetus and work around the club have been exceptional and I wish them all the best for whatever is next for them.”

These departures come after the earlier announcement that Will DavisLewis Thiede and Alun Walker will also be departing Ealing Trailfinders this summer.

The longest serving playing member of our squad, who’s been here since 2014 and has won every trophy the club has won since turning professional!

Alun Walker – Ealing Trailfinder #31

Alun Walker has the impressive accolade of being able to say he is the only player to have won every trophy the club has won since it turned professional.

After joining the club nine years ago in 2014, he helped the club gain promotion back to the Championship during his opening season.

Winning the last ever British & Irish Cup in 2018 was then joined in his medal collection a year later, as he was part of the squad that defeated London Irish in the Championship Cup final in 2019.

Alun was the first ever Ealing Trailfinders centurion during the club’s professional era, as he went on to win three more trophies, the Trailfinders Challenge Cup in 2021 and the Championship League-Cup double in 2021/22.

A versatile hooker who is as exceptional at his line-out throwing and scrummaging as he is in the loose, having amassed over 70 tries during his nine years at the club.

When speaking about the last nine years at the club, Alun said: “The last nine years at the club have absolutely flown by and I think sometimes we have to stop to think about how far we’ve come from being in National One to now consistently fighting for trophies in the Championship.

“I think if I look at how much I’ve changed since when I first joined, I’ve not only loved improving as a rugby player, but also improving my relationships with people both on and off the pitch, and although I’m now leaving the club, these relationships that I’ve made here will now probably last for the rest of my life.”

Director of Rugby Ben Ward said: “Lunny’s been our longest serving member of the squad who has been an incredible player for the club over the years.

“He’s probably best known as a set piece hooker, but I also think he’s one of the most skilful hookers I’ve worked with – somehow people still fall for his dummies!

“Although he’s had injuries, he’s always come back stronger as a player and he will always be remembered here at the club and I just want to thank him for all his service in green and white.”

After five incredible seasons over two spells at TFSC, we can confirm that Lewis Thiede will be moving on at the end of the year.

Lewis Thiede – Ealing Trailfinder #68

Lewis Thiede first joined the club back back in 2016, an instantly became one of the best scrummagers in the league.

His work in the set piece, helped the Trailfinders win the final British & Irish Cup in 2018. His performances throughout the season secured a move to Bristol Bears in the Premiership.

After two strong years in the West-Country, when the opportunity arose to return to West-London in 2020, he took it with both hands! He slotted back into the environment perfectly, as he went on to win the Trailfinders Challenge Cup in 2021 and the Championship and Championship Cup in 2021/22.

Although he’s only scored three tries throughout his time in green and white, his dominance at the scrum was invaluable during his time here and everyone at Ealing Trailfinders wish him all the best for the future.

When speaking about his memories of the club, Lewis Thiede said: “I’ve absolutely loved my time here and although it’s sad that it’s coming to an end, I can’t thank everyone enough who’s been involved throughout my journey here.

“I feel like I had such a genuine connection with so many people here, both the boys and the coaches and staff, and hopefully we can finish it all off on a high on Saturday!”

Director of Rugby Ben Ward said: “Ever since he came to the club Lewis has been a self-confessed ‘different’ character. He’s changed a lot since he first joined back in 2016, but his scrummaging quality has remained at the top of the tree since he first arrived here.

“He will always be an important part of our history and I look forward to watching and following him through what ever his next steps are!”

After spending seven years at the club over two stints, the club can now confirm Will Davis will depart at the end of the season.

Will Davis – Ealing Trailfinder #21

Will Davis first joined the Ealing Trailfinders back in 2014, when the club were in National One. He instantly made an impact, helping the club return to the Championship.

After winning establishing himself as a fan favourite in the squad, he was part of the Trailfinders side that won the last ever British & Irish Cup, defeating Leinster A by 22-7.

These strong performances saw a move to the Premiership in 2018, where he joined Northampton Saints, before he returned to Trailfinders Sports Club two years later.

He went on to become only the third player to make over 100 Trailfinders appearances in the professional era fro the club, winning the Trailfinders Challenge Cup in 2021, as well as being a pivotal part of the Championship league and cup double winning season last year.

Although Will will not be playing his rugby at Ealing Trailfinders next season, he still will remain deeply involved in the club, as he takes on a coaching role with the Trailfinders Rugby Academy at Brunel University.

When discussing his departure, Will Davis said: “You want to come to a club, where the shirt and leave it in a better place than when you first wore it, and I feel that I’ve come here, worn the shirt with pride and now it’s the turn of the next person to take over the mantle.

“We spend more time here with each other than we do with our families, and so although I’ll miss playing here, spending every day with your mates is what I’ll miss the most, but I’m also really excited to be staying involved with the academy and helping the next generation of Trailfinders.”

Director of Rugby Ben Ward said: “I’m incredibly fortunate to have played alongside as well as having coached Will.

“I’ll always remember him as a fast and mobile prop who can play for 80 minutes and always gives 100% to the shirt. I think how much time he always has for other people, especially the supporters, is a mark of his character and I’m pleased he’ll be starting his coaching journey with us.”

HOW THE TRAILFINDERS GOT HERE

After finishing top in the league last season, Ealing Trailfinders were the top seed in Pool 1, as they lined up against Nottingham, Hartpury and Jersey Reds.

Their cup campaign got off to the best possible start, with a huge 64-10 that included a second-half hat trick from Simon Uzokwe, and Jack Grant scoring one of the best solo tries that you’ll see all season.

After achieving maximum points, the green and whites were then able to navigate a tricky trip to the Bay against Nottingham, as they came back from being 12-0 down to win 19-26.

The final encounter of the first block of matches saw a repeat of this year’s final, as Jersey travelled to TFSC. It was a bruising match that saw the Trailfinders denied a try bonus point for the first time this season, but the hosts still emerged victorious, 22-13.

After a two month gap, round four saw the Londoners travel to the island. With the clock in the red, they scored a try to go a point behind, but agonisingly the conversion from the touchline sailed wide, however the late score secured the try bonus point which turned out to be crucial in the final Pool 1 standings.

Big wins in Round Five and Six over Nottingham and Hartpury saw the Trailfinders top the Pool by a point and qualify as second seed, ensuring a home semi-final against Doncaster Knights.

Last weekend’s knockout game was played amid torrential conditions for almost all the game. Despite this, it didn’t mean the hosts weren’t able to still cut loose, as braces from Reuben Bird-Tulloch and Jonah Holmes helped them run away with a 32-0 victory and set up this week’s final in West-London.

HOW JERSEY GOT HERE

After being drawn in the same Pool as the Trailfinders, the two sides know each other very well, as this weekend’s game will be the fifth encounter between the two this season.

Jersey’s cup campaign took a very similar course to the West-Londoners, as they kicked off with a big 12-38 win in Nottingham and then a 55-24 victory at home over Hartpury.

The round 3 game at Trailfinders Sports Club could have gone either way, but ultimately their failure to secure a losing point in the game proved costly in the final standings.

Their round 4 victory over the Trailfinders was probably their most impressive performance in the competition. They raced out to a 21-0 lead, before the visitors came back in the second-half, but they managed to hold on to get the win.

Two more convincing victories against Hartpury and Nottingham saw the Reds finish second in Pool 1, qualifying as the fourth seed due to them being the best runner-up.

This meant a trip to Cornwall for the semi-final and they got off to the best possible start, scoring after just one minute! Although Pirates did come back into the fixture, Jersey’s forwards dominance combined with a Will Brown double saw them victorious by 24-35.

Ealing Trailfinders are delighted to announce that back-row Jordy Reid will rejoin the club ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The Australian, who quickly became a fan favourite at TFSC, will return to West-London having made 37 appearances in green and white between 2018 and 2020.

Reid, who left the Trailfinders to join Gloucester, hit the ground running with the Cherry & Whites as he made an instant impact during the latter end of the 2019-20 season after COVID-19 delayed the Gallagher Premiership finale that year.

He since went on to make over 50 appearances for the West-Country outfit, becoming hugely popular among the Kingsholm faithful.

On his return to Ealing, Reid said: “I’m really excited to be re-joining Trailfinders ahead of next season.

“I have such great memories from my first stint and I’ve always remained fond of the club and the supporters, so I can’t wait to get back involved!”

Director of Rugby Ben Ward said: “We’re delighted to be able to bring Jordy back to the club after such a successful three years in the Premiership with Gloucester.

“He was such a popular figure within the squad and among the fans when he was with us the first time round, and he’s only improved since then, so we’re looking forward to be welcoming him back to TFSC in June.”

The only change that fans can expect from Reid from his first time at the club is that he now without his signature dreadlocks! Despite not cutting his hair for 13 years, Reid shaved his head following Gloucester’s final league home game, raising over £13,000 in the process for MMD charity 4Ed, in support of his former teammate Ed Slater who is battling the condition.
