71min – A breath taking passage of play with both sides fighting for every inch, eventually sees us pop up with a penalty at the breakdown.

64min – Under huge pressure, we come up with a big turnover as the maul goes to ground and the ball is unplayable, our scrum.

63min – Jersey win the penalty at the scrum and will have a line out 5m out.

57min – BIG defensive play! Jersey win a penalty and go to the corner, after winning the line out we drive them back 5m, and then drive the man into touch.

69min – A great turnover sees us playing with quick ball. We win the penalty and Craig puts us 5m out.

67min – A lot of unforced errors from both sides are seeing the scrum purists get their money’s worth. This time Nottingham pack down just outside their 22.

61min – TRY NOTTINGHAM – Just as we edge in front Nottingham anger straight back. A quick tap penalty and subsequent kick through deflects off our last man and bounces into the hands of Olowofela.

59min – TRY EALING – A superb rolling maul sees Carlo crash over for his second. Craig with the extras

58min – A great box kick by Burnsy allows a great chase and we manage to regain possession. Nottingham infringe at the breakdown and we’ll kick to the corner.

52min – TRY EALING – Our maul looked like it was going over but was pulled down just metres short. We stay calm and recycle and somehow Carlo manages to bundle himself over! Craig Willis with the extras and we’re all tied up.

50min – We win a penalty about 30m out and go to the corner again. We’ll have a line out 10m out.

48min – HELD UP – A great passage of play where we had to fight for every inch almost sees us get our reward with the five points, but sadly we’re held up over the line and it’ll be a goal line drop out.

41min – Notts look like they’re going on the attack again, but we do well in the choke tackle to win the scrum.

HALF TIME: Nottingham 12-5 Ealing Trailfinders

37min – Now Nottingham’s media team are writing the same thing! A delicious break down the left from Zok, CK and Burnsy sees us get 15m out, but we’re isolated at the ruck and this time we’re penalised.

36min – Great scramble defence as Nottingham break free following a kick. But we’re able to cover back and win the penalty at the breakdown.

33min – given the heavy nature of the surface and the recent rain, both sides are deciding it’s smarter to play without the ball, so there’s quite a bit of kicking here this afternoon.

26min – Some good pressure on the last couple of line outs eventually forces an error as Nottingham don’t throw it in straight. We’ll back down just outside their half.

22min – TRY EALING – We answer straight back with a great rolling maul! It makes 15m before Zok breaks off and manages to muscle his way over!

80min- TRY EALING TRAILFINDERS– Reuben Bird-Tulloch adds the gloss as he scores his second following a great break by Campher. Shingler adds the extras.

77min- Zebre look to be building nicely but as they break through, they are called back for obstruction.

73min- TRY EALING TRAILFINDERS- A strong scrum gives us a great platform. Jack Grant puts Reuben Bird-Tulloch through a gap before the centre sidesteps the fullback and dots down underneath the sticks. Shingler adds the extras.

EALING TRAILFIDNERS 35-12 ZEBRE PARMA

70min- A delicious break from Will Montgomery slices them open through the middle. He can’t quite find support and so we recycle, but Luke Daniels is just pushed into touch inside their 22.

65min- TRY EALING TRAILFINDERS- Another great rolling maul sees Jan-Henning Campher crash over. Shingler converts again from the touchline.

EALING TRAILFIDNERS 28-12 ZEBRE PARMA

64min- A HUGE penalty at the scrum! We kick to touch and are 5m out.

63min- Zebre are keeping the ball well but are just going side to side. Eventually they knock on. Our scrum inside their half.

61min- A strong kick in behind and an equally strong chase sees us win this kicking battle. Our line-out just inside their half.

60min- Just as Zebre looked to be taking momentum, we managed to force the choke tackle and it’ll be our put in on our 22.

57min- A clever kick in behind just rolls one rotation to much. It goes over the dead ball line with Jonah Holmes and Angus Kernohan almost scoring.

56min- Another great defensive set forces Zebre to kick away. The pressure is to much and the clearance is out on the full. Our line out 30m out.

53min- TRY EALING TRAILFINDERS- An immense rolling maul sees us march 15m up field. Rayn Smid breaks off the back before feeding back inside to Bobby De Wee! Shingler gets the extras.

EALING TRAILFIDNERS 21-12 ZEBRE PARMA

51min- A strong defensive set sees Zebre throw it forward again. Their scrum half infringes at the base of the scrum and we’ll kick to the corner.

49min- TRY ZEBRE PARMA- Off the back of their line out they slowly muscle closer and closer. A good running line puts them inches away and eventually they bundle over. Extras are added.

EALING TRAILFIDNERS 14-12 ZEBRE PARMA

46min- A good break by Zebre sees them get close to our line. They win the penalty and have a line out 5m out.

43min- TRY EALING TRAILFINDERS- A great move off the line out sees Hampson released. He frees Luke Daniels who gets over in the corner. Willis adds the extras from the touchline.

EALING TRAILFIDNERS 14-5 ZEBRE PARMA

42min- We win the penalty and kick to the corner.

41min- As Zebre look to throw the ball about a bit more, it just sails forward and we’ll have the put in.

40min- After a strong first carry from the hosts, we recover well and win the penalty from the breakdown.

40min- And we’re back underway for the second half!

HALF TIME: EALING TRAILFINDERS 7-5 ZEBRE PARMA

40min- A great break by Hampson on the stroke of half-time sees him get up to the 22, but he’s isolated and Zebre win the penalty. They kick to touch and that’ the first 40.

39min- Knock on by Zebre in the midfield and now it’s our scrum just inside our half.

38min- We complete the clearance as we win the free kick and manage to clear to touch.

37min- A huge effort! We win it against the head and now it’s our put in, 5m out

36min- Several reset scrums here as both sides are looking to get on top.

33min- A huge 5 minute defensive set sees us hold out Zebre, but in doing so the visitors win a penalty

28min- TRY EALING TRAILFINDERS- A great rolling maul sees us come within 5m of the line. We’re forced to use it and Hampson dives over from 5m out. Willis gets the extras and we take the lead.

EALING TRAILFINDERS 7-5 ZEBRE PARMA

26min- A tackle off the ball in the midfield sees us kick to touch and we’re now 10m out with the throw.

25min- The visitors look to throw it wide but good defence in the midfield forces the error as the pass goes straight to touch

22min- TRY ZEBRE PARMA– After a big overlap, the visitors are in in the corner for the game’s first score. Conversion is missed.

EALING TRAILFINDERS 0-5 ZEBRE PARMA

20min- The visitors win a penalty in midfield and are now 5m out.

18min- We looked like we were about to crash over from the rolling maul, but the referee calls us back for a knock on.

16min- We get the choke tackle and then win the penalty from the scrum.

15min- We’re back underway after our first water break. The visitors have a line out on halfway.

12min- A huge defensive set on our line sees us win the turnover just as it looks like Zebre were going to get the opener.

11min- We’re judged to have infringed on a scrum inside their half and Zebre will kick to touch.

6min- A big defensive set sees us win the penalty for holding on. Craig Willis finds touch well and it’ll be our throw.

5min- We get it away and Craig Hampson goes for a deep kick to touch that just goes out on the full. Zebre line-out just inside our half.

4min- A strong first scrum sees us win the free kick. We opt to scrum again!

3min- An exhausting first passage of play finally comes to an end with a Zebre Parma knock on just inside our half.

30th Min: YELLOW CARD EALING TRAILFINDERS. Jack Metcalf is shown yellow for obstructing the Richmond attacker as they looked to collect the kick near our line.

 

 

29th Min: Richmond maintain possession and slice through our defence, 30 metres out. They look to offload but the pass bounces off the shoulder of the Richmond attacker. We scramble, collect the ball and punt out of danger.

 

 

22nd Min: Simon Uzokwe with a pulsating break through the heart of the Richmond defence. He’s eventually pulled down and the hosts manage to steal the turnover and drill a neat kick into our 22. Metcalf collects and scrambles a kick into touch. Plenty of highlights so far in this one!

 

 

20th Min: Big defensive effort by our pack! Richmond were building a powerful maul towards our line and our forwards do the job to force the turnover and then scrum penalty.

 

 

17th Min: Again we’re on the attack in the Richmond 22 but the hosts continue to defend their line well. They win the penalty and kick down field to relieve the pressure.

8th Min: Richmond do well to force the turnover from our attacking maul. We’ll pack down for the scrum, Richmond feed, two metres from their line.

 

 

6th Min: That’s another penalty for our lads. We kick for the corner and drive powerfully from the lineout..

 

 

5th Min: Richmond have their first attacking possession working the ball into our half. Our defence holds firm and we win the ruck penalty. Lancaster boots us up over half-way.

1st Min: We’re underway here in Biarritz. Great to have you joining us for our first preseason match of the 2022/23 campaign! Humid and sticky conditions should make for a tough contest.

3rd Min: We’re packing down for the first scrum of the match. Biarritz fumbled the ball in the ruck. Craig Hampson feeds the ball into the scrum and Simon Uzokwe picks the ball up and makes his first charge at the Biarritz defence.

4th Min: TRY EALING TRAILFINDERS! We open the scoring with Hampson slicing through the Biarritz defence to score from 20 metres out. Steven Shingler slots the conversion from directly in front.

SCORE: BIARRITZ 0 – EALING TRAILFINDERS 7

 

10th Min: Biarritz have their first major attacking play, working the ball into our half before winning the penalty. They kick for the lineout, 22 metres out.

12th Min: That’s consecutive penalties for the home side. We’re penalised for offside and the hosts march the ball forward from their lineout maul.

14th Min: TRY BIARRITZ. The hosts scamper through our defence from seven metres out. Conversion successful.

18th Min: Powerful defence by our line forcing the penalty. We’ll look to attack from 45 metres out.

21st Min: Impressive attacking play, building confidence phase by phase. Biarritz are penalised on their 22 metre and Shings will kick for the corner. Score remains tied up at 7-7.

22nd Min: Biarritz win back possession and charge up the field with speed. Our defence needs to hold strong here.

24th Min: TRY BIARRITZ. The hosts swing the ball wide and former Wallaby Henry Speight powers to the corner from 15 metres out. Conversion is missed.

28th Min: Huge defence by our pack, forcing the turnover on our line. Biarritz are penalised and Shings boots the ball into touch, just inside our half.

36 Min: Bit of inaccuracy creeping in for both sides. Humid conditions with a slippery ball means we’ll pack down for another scrum. 25 metres from the Biarritz line. Score remains 12-7 to the hosts.

40th Min: TRY EALING TRAILFINDERS! Alun Walker barges his way over from close range. Shings adds the extras with a lovely kick from out wide. We’ll head into the break with a two point lead!

41st Min: Welcome back for the second half action. We’ve changed our front-row at the break with Will Davis, Kevin O’Byrne and George Davis on the pitch.

44th Min: BIARRITZ YELLOW CARD. The hosts are down to 14 men as we drive the ball towards their line.

49th Min: We overthrow at the lineout and Biarritz steal possession. They then spin the ball wide and boot over deep into our half.

52nd Min: This is turning into a titanic and fierce battle. We’re throwing loads of pressure at Biarritz and they continue to hold firm. The crowd are getting rowdy too!

55th Min: Biarritz are penalised just outside their 22. The referee speaks to their skipper and the infringing player. Big attacking lineout coming up!

58th Min: Score remains tightly locked at Biarritz 12 – Ealing Trailfinders 14 as we make a few changes. Simon Linsell, Dave O’Connor and Jack Digby are on the pitch, replacing today’s skipper Barney Maddison, Bobby De Wee and Simon Uzokwe.

 

67th Min: TRY BIARRITZ. The hosts score from a sharp cross-field kick. The conversion swirls in the wind, hits the upright and bounces through the sticks.

69th Min: Jack Metcalf and Dan Lancaster are on for their first appearance in Ealing colours. The pair replace Jonah Holmes and Steven Shingler.

74th Min: Here come the hosts. They are working their way back into our half. Time to hold firm lads!

75th Min: Phew….Biarritz are pinned for a forward pass. It’s our scrum feed as we look to move the ball back out of our half. Score remains 19-21.

77th Min: Monster scrum by our pack to win the penalty! Lancaster then boots the ball way up field.

79th Min: Nervy stuff here as Biarritz attack with pace up towards half-way.

80th Min: YELLOW CARD EALING TRAILFINDERS. Jack Digby is sent to the bin for a dangerous tackle. Biarritz will take the shot at goal from 50 metres to win the game…

80th Min: PENALTY SUCCESSFUL BIARRITZ. Heartbreak at the death. Biarritz slot their penalty kick from 50 out to win the game.
