Match Guide: Nottingham (A) – Championship Cup
After a strong display in Round 1 of the Championship Cup, we will look to carry this momentum forward as we travel to face Nottingham this weekend.
RFU CHAMPIONSHIP CUP – ROUND 2
Date: Sunday 13th November
Kick-Off: 3pm
Location: The Bay, Nottingham
Tickets: Available from £15 – click here to purchase
Coverage: Live coverage of the game will be available via our Twitter feed and website
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION:
After a tricky campaign last time out, Nottingham have been somewhat of the surprise package this season. Currently sitting fifth in the Championship table they have had some impressive wins against Doncaster Knights, Richmond and London Scottish, as well as running Cornish Pirates incredibly close.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Nottingham are a side who always like to throw the ball around and have scored at least 30 points in four of the last five games that they have played, so this game promises to an exciting fixture. Despite this however, their Championship Cup campaign got off to a somewhat disappointing start last weekend from the Archer’s perspective. They came up against a high flying Jersey side at the Bay and after a strong opening ten minutes for the Reds, the hosts were never able to reel them back in as Jersey ran out 12-38 winners.

LAST TIME WE MET:
Our most recent encounter against the Archers came just a fortnight ago as we won 64-33 in an exciting encounter at Trailfinders Sports Club. We raced out to a significant first half lead, after Jonah Holmes scored a 17-minute hat trick while Jordan Burns and Reuben Bird-Tulloch both added long range scores to see us leading 33-0 at the break.
An early score after half-time from Burns looked as if it had put the game to bed, but Nottingham responded well scoring three tries in five minutes! This quick trio could have rattled some inside TFSC, but the players remained calm and settled back into the game.
Jack Grant had a debut to remember, coming off the bench scoring two tries and assisting another in what was a superb 15 minute cameo. Sadly we were unable to prevent two further Nottingham tries before full-time, as the game finished Ealing Trailfinders 64-33 Nottingham
