Will Harries and Lewis Jones extend contracts at Vallis Way

Ealing Trailfinders are delighted to announce that two more current players have committed to the club, with Will Harries and Lewis Jones both signing contract extensions.

The duo add significant depth to the back-line and have both played a huge part in the 2017/18 season so far, meaning they will continue to feature for the 18/19 campaign.

Will Harries has seen the club rise from National One to the top end of the Greene King IPA Championship and will now enter his fourth year at Vallis Way as one of the most experienced members of the squad.

The winger, who was three caps for Wales has played for the Trailfinders on 66 occasions and has scored 28 tries showing an impressive strike rate across the back-three.

Harries has enjoyed a scintillating campaign throughout 17/18 whilst battling with the likes of James Cordy Redden, Seb Stegmann and Miles Mantella for one of the starting shirts, and will be looking to make a similar impact next year.

Lewis Jones joined Ealing Trailfinders from Leeds Beckett University ahead of the 16/17 season and featured 22 times for the club in his debut campaign. He has played on 11 occasions this season taking his tally up to 33 whilst competing with Piers O’Conor to keep hold of the number 13 shirt.

The outside centre has crossed the try-line eight times this season and has become a crucial part of the match day squad during their climb up the Championship table.

Director of Rugby Ben Ward is pleased to keep two key members of the squad at Vallis Way.

“This is a very pleasing move for us as a club to keep two important figures at the club, and whilst they have both performed very well this year we still think there can be more to come.”

“Will is a fantastic professional and works very hard on and off the pitch. His try-scoring record speaks for itself, he is very popular amongst the squad and all supporters so I'm sure this will be a very popular extension.

Lewis has improved hugely this year and we are excited to see how far he can keep going. He is a real threat in attack and I have no doubt that he will be one of the top centres in the division which is great for us.”

Whilst these two players have signed new contract extensions they will also be joined next year by Miles Mantella, who will remain with the club as his original deal expires at the end of the 2018/19 season.

The winger has plenty of Championship experience after representing Exile clubs London Welsh and London Scottish as well as graduating from the Harlequins academy.

Mantella has scored three tries this season, whilst he also dotted down seven times last year to take his total for the club in to double figures.
