Trailfinders name team for Titans task at Vallis Way

Ealing Trailfinders have named their team for tomorrow’s Round Four British and Irish Cup match against Rotherham Titans at Vallis Way.

The starting line-up features seven changes from the side that defeated the Titans at Clifton Lane last Saturday, and the West Londoners will be looking to continue their positive start to the competition.

James Gibbons and Mark Tampin are joined by Rhys Lawrence in the front-row who makes his first start of the season, with Llewelyn Jones and Oli Curry in the second-row.

Kieran Murphy will captain the side in the blindside flanker position, alongside Arthur Ellis and Morgan Allen in the back-row.

Grayson Hart and Rory Clegg continue their half-back partnership, and the centre pairing of Lewis Robling and Lewis Jones remains unchanged after an impressive display in their last outing.

There are two changes in the back-three, where winger James Cordy Redden and full-back Peter Lydon return to the side with Seb Stegmann continuing on the left wing.

Alun Walker, Djustice Sears Duru and Sam Rodman provide a front-row alternative from the bench with Harry Casson and Rayn Smid covering the rest of the pack. Luke Carter offers scrum-half back-up, and Aaron Penberthy will complete the match day squad.

Captain Kieran Murphy is looking forward to another test against the Titans tomorrow:

“It’s an odd situation in terms of playing them back-to-back as it’s quite rare to play a team on consecutive weekends. We know that we have to come out hard and play with intensity as they can be a dangerous side.”

He continued: “The aim for us is to secure a home quarter final. With the format of the competition if we could do that it would put is in a great position and something for the club to be excited about but it’s not easy to do and we have to get the win before thinking of that.”
