Three changes for top four clash with Nottingham

Ealing Trailfinders have named their team to take on Nottingham at Lady Bay, with three changes to the starting line-up from the side that defeated Yorkshire Carnegie last Saturday.

All of the changes come in the pack with an unchanged back-line, as the front-row has a refreshed look for the trip to Nottingham.

Rory Clegg returns to the match day squad for the first time this season and will be looking to make an impact when called upon from the bench.

Both props are rotated with James Gibbons and Mark Tampin starting alongside hooker Alun Walker in the front-row. Barney Maddison and Harry Casson continue their second-row partnership, while Arthur Ellis comes back in to the side next to Rayn Smid and Mark Bright in the back-row.

Luke Carter and Aaron Penberthy maintain their half-back partnership, with Joe Munro and Piers O’Conor extending their centre pairing. The back-three of Seb Stegmann, Will Harries and Peter Lydon which functioned well last weekend remains unchanged.

Matt Cornish, Will Davis and Lewis Thiede provide a front-row alternative, with Llewelyn Jones covering the rest of the pack. An attacking bench with three backs including Grayson Hart, Rory Clegg and Lewis Jones will be aiming to prove their quality when required.

Director of Rugby Ben Ward knows that his side are in for a tough test on Sunday:

“Nottingham have done really well, especially given they’ve only had three home games so far. They’re very well coached and they play good, attacking rugby.”

He continued: “Defensively, we know it’s going to be a huge challenge and we know that’s something we need to focus on. On the flip side, we must have the confidence to implement our game as well.
