Shane Buckley signs for Ealing Trailfinders from Nottingham
Ealing Trailfinders are excited to announce the signing of Shane Buckley from Nottingham for the 2019/20 season.
The number eight has been one of the standout performers in the Greene King IPA Championship since moving to Lady Bay in 2016, putting on the Green and White shirt 45 times in just two seasons.
The 26-year-old came through the Munster academy and was named Academy Player of the Year in 2014 before making his first team debut against Edinburgh later that year.
He then signed another contract and went on to make eight appearances for the Thomond Park side before heading to Nottingham.
The 6ft 2” back-rower also represented Ireland at Under 20 level and played twelve times between 2010 and 2012.
Buckley will now add further depth to the back-row for next season, and is excited to be heading to Trailfinders Sports Club for a new challenge.
“I’m really looking forward to moving to London and joining up with a very ambitious club and group of players. I expect I’ll be met with some new challenges and opportunities that should help me to continue to grow as a player and hopefully I can add value to the squad for next year.”
Director of Rugby Ben Ward is delighted to be adding Buckley to the Trailfinders for the 19/20 campaign.
“Shane is a player that we have watched for a while and has been a consistent performer in the Championship for the last few seasons. He is a strong ball-carrier with a great work ethic who will bring a lot of physicality to our back-row, and is an excellent addition to the squad.”
