Prop Jake Ellwood signs for Ealing Trailfinders
Ealing Trailfinders are pleased to announce the signing of prop Jake Ellwood for the 2018/19 season.
The front-rower who has been studying at Northumbria University has made a big impression on the BUCS League, and will now add further depth to the tight-head position at Vallis Way.
The 22-year-old has previous experience with Newcastle Falcons at age grade level as well as representing England Students, before being dual registered with Darlington Mowden Park.
Ellwood will be looking forward to competing with the likes of Mark Tampin, Elliot Millar Mills and Ben Betts for the starting shirt next season.
The 6ft 2” prop is excited to be starting a new challenge in West London.
“I’m thrilled to have signed my first professional contract with Ealing Trailfinders. I’ve enjoyed every moment at Northumbria Uni and it has prepared me well for the next step, but now I’m really looking forward to getting started with this new opportunity.”
Director of Rugby Ben Ward says Ellwood is an exciting prospect for the 2018/19 campaign.
“Jake is a talented young player who we are looking forward to seeing develop over the next few years working alongside our players and coaches. It’s a testament to the club that we’ll keep looking to develop young players as we have done for the last few years to a higher level and I hope he can follow in similar footsteps to players such as Matt Cornish and more recently Reon Joseph.”
