Mark Bright appointed as Club Captain for 2017/18 season

Ealing Trailfinders can today confirm that Mark Bright has been announced as Club Captain for the 2017/18 season.

The New Zealander is entering his second season with the Trailfinders, and after winning the Rugby Players Association Championship Player of the Year Award for the 2016/17 season, he is raring to go for another year at Vallis Way.

Last season the number eight skippered the side on 25 occasions, leading them to the Championship semi-finals as well as the British and Irish Cup semi-finals.

The 38-year-old has also captained London Scottish, as well as representing England in the Sevens at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Bright is thrilled to be leading the West Londoners for another year.

“It’s a real honour for me to be appointed as Club Captain for the 2017/18 season. I enjoyed the responsibility last year and it’s a privilege to lead the boys again.”

He added: “This season will be an exciting one for us, and with no play-offs the aim has to be to finish as high up the table as possible.”

Director of Rugby Ben Ward says that Bright was the outstanding candidate to lead his side once again:

“Brighty has been a real leader for us and I’m sure he’ll be no different this season. We are looking to build on last year and he can be at the forefront of that throughout the campaign.”
