Macfarlane crosses Thames to join Ealing Trailfinders
Mike Macfarlane is the latest player to sign on with Ealing Trailfinders ahead of their 2016-17 Greene King IPA Championship campaign.
The back-rower moves across London from local rivals Rosslyn Park and he brings previous experience of the Championship having played in English rugby’s second tier with Esher as well as representative experience from England U18 and Students.
“I have always wanted to play professional rugby and having the chance to do so with a club such as Ealing Trailfinders is a great opportunity, ” Macfarlane said. “I was really impressed by the set up at Ealing Trailfinders when I came to visit the club, and I am looking forward to playing Championship rugby again.”
The 27-year-old Macfarlane spent two years at The Rock and scored nine tries in 60 matches.
He played in both matches between Ealing Trailfinders and Rosslyn Park as they battled it out for promotion from National 1 in 2014-15.
“Mike was outstanding during my time at Rosslyn Park in National 1 and has once again been a stand out performer in the division this season, ” Ealing Trailfinders coach Alex Codling said.
“I am very much looking forwarding to seeing what he can do with us in the Championship.”
