Lewis Thiede returns to starting line-up in only change for Ealing Trailfinders ahead of London derby
Ealing Trailfinders have made one change to their starting line-up for this weekend’s local derby against London Scottish at Vallis Way.
Lewis Thiede makes his first start of the season at tight-head prop in the only alteration from the side that defeated Bedford Blues last Saturday.
Ben Ward’s side are looking to continue their positive opening to the 2017/18 campaign as they search for their fourth consecutive win when the Scots head over Kew Bridge in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
Will Davis, Alun Walker and Lewis Thiede start in the front-row, with captain Glen Townson alongside Barney Maddison in the second-row. Dan Temm, Andrew Durutalo and Mark Bright maintain their back-row partnership.
The back-line is unchanged with Luke Carter and Aaron Penberthy continuing as half-backs, and Joe Munro with Piers O’Conor in the centre.
Miles Mantella, James Cordy Redden and Peter Lydon operate in a back-three which functioned impressively in their last outing.
On the bench Matt Cornish, James Gibbons and Mark Tampin provide front-row back-up, with Llewelyn Jones and Rayn Smid covering the rest of the pack. Grayson Hart and Lewis Robling complete the match day squad.
Full Back Peter Lydon is relishing the opportunity of facing his former club on Sunday afternoon:
“I’m looking forward to it after three great years there. Knowing so many of the players and staff who are still there it’s exciting to be going up against them but we want to keep building from the win over Bedford.”
He continued: “There are loads of new players and coaches there and they’ve started the season well so we know we’ll need to be at our best. They have been playing some exciting rugby by chucking the ball around so it’s up to us to control the tempo of the game.”
The match is being broadcast live on Sky Sports, with coverage starting at 14:45 on Sky Sports Mix.
