Jordy Reid to join Ealing Trailfinders from Melbourne Rebels
Ealing Trailfinders are delighted to announce the exciting signing of back-rower Jordy Reid from Melbourne Rebels.
The Australian has been playing in Super Rugby since making his debut in 2013, and has made a huge impact in the Southern Hemisphere competition.
The 26-year-old, who usually plays at flanker has featured 41 times at AAMI Park and has been firmly established as a fan-favourite in Melbourne.
He played against the British and Irish Lions in 2013 proving his ability to play at the highest level, and his best season with the Rebels came in 2016 when he played in 15 of their Super Rugby matches.
The Rebels have started the Super Rugby season well, and are currently second in the Australian Conference with four wins from their eight matches.
Reid is the latest in a string of exciting signings, and will be competing with the likes of Kieran Murphy, Rayn Smid, Andrew Durutalo and Ollie Stedman for a starting shirt.
The 6ft back rower is looking forward to testing himself in the English game.
“I'm really excited to get over to Ealing Trailfinders and meet everyone and rip in to pre season with the team. I’m just really keen to get back playing again.”
Director of Rugby Ben Ward is excited to have Reid heading to Vallis Way next season.
“Jordy has made a name for himself in Super Rugby as an explosive ball carrier and fierce defender. He is perfectly suited to our expansive style of rugby and we can’t wait to see him in an Ealing Trailfinders shirt next year.”
