Jack O'Connell signs for Ealing Trailfinders
Ealing Trailfinders are pleased to announce the signing of Jack O’Connell from Bristol Rugby on a one year contract.
The loose-head prop has been at Ashton Gate since 2014 but will now head to Vallis Way for the next chapter of his career.
The 27-year-old has featured for Bristol on 67 occasions, with the majority of those in the Greene King IPA Championship making him the ideal fit with vast experience in the league.
Before that O’Connell spent three years with home town club Leinster between 2011 and 2014, representing them 15 times.
The Irishman won twelve caps for his country at Under 20 level, winning an RBS Six Nations title during his time with the age grade.
Standing at 6ft 2” and weighing in at 116 kg, O’Connell brings plenty of power to the scrum which already has the likes of Alun Walker, Kieran Murphy and Rayn Smid for next season.
Director of Rugby Ben Ward is pleased to add significant experience to the pack for next season.
“Jack is a player that we have been very impressed with and we are excited to bring him on board. He is very powerful in the set-piece but is also an experienced head which will be important amongst the group.”
O’Connell is eagerly anticipating his switch to West London:
“I’m really excited to be joining Ealing Trailfinders. After seeing the progress they’ve made over the last three years and the culture within the club, it’s an exciting place to come.
I look forward to working with the players and staff at Vallis Way in the coming year.”
