Ealing Trailfinders Performance Internships 2020


Ealing Trailfinders are looking to provide valuable work experience for sport science/strength & conditioning & performance analysis students.

The positions will suit students currently enrolled on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree course, or recent graduates looking to gain experience post study.


We will be looking to provide opportunities for students to gain experience in one of two departments: (eg: the duration of the placement will be in either department).


  1. Strength & Conditioning Department
  2. Analysis Department


When applying please make it clear if you are wishing to apply for experience in the S & C department or the Analysis department. 


Strength & Conditioning Department


Successful applicants will get experience in the following:

  • Assisting in strength/power sessions.
  • Assisting in speed & endurance sessions. 
  • Implementing recovery protocols. 
  • Implementing monitoring protocols.
  • Implementing nutritional protocols.
  • Assisting as required with the Academy programme. 


At the end of the internship you will come away with:

  • Valuable applied experience within a professional rugby environment. 
  • Exposure to athlete tracking technology: Catapult GPS system for example.
  • Work as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
  • Mentoring from experienced strength & conditioning coaches. 
  • In house CPD.


Hours etc:

  • The role is strictly part-time and is approximately 3 days per week.
  • The position is unpaid.
  • All meals and training kit will be provided. 


Analysis Department:


The main purpose of the placement is to develop and upskill the placement student by exposing them to the role of an analyst in a professional rugby environment.


Development Areas to include:


  • Windows and Mac Operating Systems
  • Use of Analysis Software – Sportscode 
  • Filming and production of video footage
  • Coding and detailed analysis of video footage – both training and match day
  • Online platforms as a player and coaching resource
  • Key relationships in elite sport Player : Coach : Analyst 
  • Use of different feedback resources
  • Different roles within the PA department and how the team function together


Key Areas: 

  • Filming of team training sessions
  • Coding and reporting of team training sessions
  • Report on different aspects of opposition analysis
  • Filming of home match days
  • Compiling and organisation of presentations as directed by HPA
  • Coding of Individual aspects of Senior Games


Hours etc:

  • The role is strictly part-time and is approximately 3 days per week, including home match day.
  • The position is unpaid.
  • All meals and training kit will be provided.
