Craig Hampson to join Ealing Trailfinders from Wasps
Ealing Trailfinders can today confirm the signing of Craig Hampson from Wasps for the 2019/20 season.
The scrum-half has been with Wasps since 2015 and has plenty of experience to bring to Trailfinders Sports Club.
His professional career started at Yorkshire Carnegie where he was named in the Championship Dream Team after the 2013/14 season, and that earned him a move to Bristol.
After making 39 appearances at Ashton Gate he joined Wasps in 2015 initially as injury cover before becoming a permanent contract.
The 28-year-old has gone on to play 30 times for the Wasps first team whilst battling with the likes of Dan Robson and Joe Simpson for the number nine shirt.
Hampson also captained the black-and-golds on a number of occasions in both the A League and Anglo-Welsh Cup in addition to playing a part in the club’s back-to-back Singha Premiership Sevens successes in 2016 and 2017.
The scrum-half is excited about his move to Ealing Trailfinders.
“I’m really looking forward to getting down to London to join such an ambitious club. They have a great coaching set up with Ben Ward, Glen Townson, Jimmy Lowes, Richard Wigglesworth and Steve Neville and have made some brilliant signings for next year. It’s going to be an exciting place to play.”
Director of Rugby Ben Ward sees this signing as another significant move forward for the club.
“Craig is a proven Premiership quality player who is also a great leader and will bring a lot of control in a pivotal position. He likes to play the game at pace and will enjoy playing on our fast surface.”
